Light At The End Of The Tunnel

On Monday morning, the clouds teasing with a hint of sunshine, the tension was peaking, so much so that you could feel it in the air.

We would finally be able to open the secure/safe filing cabinet, it contains so much information that could help us get back to where we need to be faster. The cabinet also held something else so much more important, it also contained hope, a flicker of light at the end of the tunnel.

New Year – New Memories

Sometimes I will wander down to the office when it is quiet. I look around, it feels like I am witnessing the remains of a building having fallen during the battle from war.

Personal items, once clean are now blackened and charred, still sitting where they were last placed. The metal skeleton of a coffee cup sits on the table in the shop, the same place as when it was last set down. The historical collectibles that were once on the fireplace hearth, now lie as fragments of what they once were. Everything that once resided in the building are now nowhere to be found. All of the pearls that were once proudly set to different types of jewelry lie in ruins, the fire so hot, you are unable to locate any part remaining. You are no longer able to tell where the display case once sat, awaiting the next customer. There is no chance of being able to recover what is now gone.

To our Birdsong Family, Valued Customers, Tourism Leaders and Friends

The fire of December 20, 2016 has left us heartbroken and in total disbelief. The pearl museum, the service department, offices, and showroom were totally destroyed by the fire, along with many irreplaceable artifacts and memorabilia from a lifetime of being the State’s Gem; Pearl Capital of Tennessee. It will take a long time to wrap our heads around, but we shall persevere through this. Your thoughts, your well-wishes, and most importantly, your prayers, are much needed and are very much appreciated, especially all that have been on location willing to lend a hand.
